BR>* An ongoing debate between Ed Vance and BEN RITCHEY rages on ...              BR> EV> I have read comments on FIDO about McAfee's product not being as       BR> EV> highly rated as some other anti-virus products so I've thought about       BR> EV> using either Avast Free or AVG Free instead of the McAfee suite.              BR>I had to un-install Mcafee under Wins 7, it was unstable, system kept       locking       BR>up. Norton is too bloated for my liking, so I settled on MS Security       Essentia       BR>plus the Windows Firewall and all is quiet here. ;-)              Thanks Ben,              I have heard good reports of MS's Security Essentials but because I used       a MS anti-virus program called Microsoft Safety Scanner MSERT.EXE some       time ago and it said it 'found' some questionable files and offered me a       change to keep them if I wanted to, so I told it not to do anything to       those files by selecting the button for that, but when I got to the next       screen it had 'PARTIALLY REMOVED' two files that were not in the list       they showed me on the previous screen.              That left a bad taste in my mouth for MS "Drive Scanner" programs.              Have you or any others who use MS SE had a experience like that?              I'd like to hear if MS SE is trustworthy. Thanks!                      * SLMR 2.1a #T348 * May all your bugs find windshields.       --- SBBSecho 2.12-Linux        * Origin: telnet & http://cco.ath.cx - Dial-Up: 502-875-8938 (1:2320/105.1)    |
