We received these responses about toys that are missed or bring back specific       memories:               "Hello. You asked the question about a toy from our childhood that       brought back memories. This is my story. I grew up a tomboy, so I played       with trucks and sports equipment and toy guns. I was in an antique store       about two months ago and saw a silver toy gun with white handle and the cowboy       holster to carry it. I had forgotten the great times I had with something       just like it. I bought it for my son. Now I get to watch him play with it.       -Patrice J. Richmond, VA "              "Amazing how an item from the past can spark a flame within the mind and make       one smile. I am an advid collector and seller. One item I would not part       with is a cast iron large door stop frog. With old green paint circa: 1920,       the heavy frog was located behind the door in my parents summer home on       Shawnee Lake. My grandfather formed a corporation and built Shawnee Lake and       the Summer Homes around the Lake. I can remember vividly as a child talking       to the frog and saying you will always be with me. In 1995 my parents sold       the summer home. After Items in the home were gathered to be sold at auction,       I went there to say goodbye to the home and surroundings of a lake and       mountains too embed visual memories. Located in the corner behind the door was       the frog. I gathered the frog and brought to my home. I placed the frog in       my bathroom on top of a small cabinet. I wanted the frog not on the floor as       a door stop but an honored place to look at everyday. I smile and think of a       young child cherishing the frog for years which spurs visual memories of the       lake and my fortunate way of growing up. This large cast iron door stop frog       sparks memories of an era so long ago. The piece is signed and date, but I can't decipher       the name. Perhaps one of your followers may be able to help identify the       artist. I've attached a couple photos, one of the signature and another of       the piece itself. Though the photo of the vase doesn't do it justice. Thanks       for any assistance you can provide. The doll is 26" long. I know the artsy shop it was purchased from       back then as I was a frequent purchaser of neat items there... It was a shop       owned by two folks who traveled the world for several months every year,       collecting very interesting eastern culture items. I purchased a few       boho-style lambs-wool coats there for instance. I was wondering if anyone       could tell me what this doll is worth now? Send them to       me at phil@Bignews.biz       -----              We have even more interesting items that need to be identified. They will be       posted in our next newsletter and on facebook within the upcoming weeks.       ---------------------       -----------------------------------------------------------------              --- BBBS/Li6 v4.10 Dada-1        * Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38)    |
