A Vintage Recipe              Be sure to check out our vintage recipe archive online at: http:       /www.tias.com/newsletter/topics/A%20Vintage%20Recipe.html Over 1200 wonderful       vintage recipes are listed.       ----              Last week Marjorie K asked : "As a little girl in the 40's, I remember my       mother making stewed pears that were then baked with something crispy on them       and it was incredibly buttery and delicious. She would give it to us as a       special treat. Does that ring any bells with anyone? Thanks, Marjorie K."              Joan replied: "I remember having those stewed pears too! Especially in the       winter, my mother would give them to us after we came in from playing outside       in the cold weather. I think this is the recipe":              BAKED PEARS       1 No. 2 1/2 can Pears       Cornflakes or Rice Krispies       Butter and Brown Sugar              DIRECTIONS:              Crush cereal and roll drained Pears in it. Place cut side up in a baking       dish. Fill center with brown sugar and dot with butter. Add enough pear       syrup to keep from burning. Bake at 375 F. until browned. Serve warm or       chilled CÇö plain or with cream.              10. A vintage recipe request from a reader:              "Growing up in North Carolina my best friend's mom used to make the most       delicious chocolate filled angel food cake. The filling was my favorite part       and she would even frost the outside of the cake. The filling was       mousse-like. Even if I were to try and make my own filling, I have no idea       how she filled it the way she did. So if this sounds familiar to anyone, and       if they could tell me how to fill the cake I would love to try and make it.        Thanks so much! Beverly J."              As with collectibles, people also have very strong feelings about foods from       their past. Sometimes these special recipes get lost.
