Send your story to       newsletter@tias.com and we'll publish it in an upcoming newsletter. Did you       know that you don't have to have a facebook account to use the links to see       the various photos that we mention below? Just copy and paste the link into       your browser. However, if you do have a facebook account please "Like" us!              Remember that you can check out our Facebook page for some interesting       updates. Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/TIASAntiques If you have       photos of items you would like to share you can post them there as well.              Also, everyday, we post a "This Date In History" story, along with an item for       sale on http://www.tias.com that relates to the event. Check it out!              If you don't have access to FaceBook, but wish to comment, feel free to send       your comments to newsletter@tias.com.                     Here's a store from Pat H. about one of her great finds! "My husband and I       decided to do some garage sales one Saturday and we came upon one out of the       blue. We went inside, but they had under 20 items. We spotted a blue vase       with flowers on front but no markings. I am always trying to deal so instead       of $2, I bought it for $1. Later on, we spotted it in our Roseville book and       it appeared to be Azurean Roseville. We took it to the Roadshow and was told       that it was worth about $1,000. Wowee!"                     Here's a contribution from Marie in Idaho with her thoughts on what to do with       family heirlooms.              "As the eldest sibling in a family of 5, ranging in age from 21 years younger,       I fussed over the disposal of our family's cherished heirlooms which I have       guarded for years (the youngest was a toddler when I inherited this caretaker       job). When I started mentioning recently that I would like to give some to       this sibling or that child of a sibling, lo and behold they had no interest       whatsoever!              We five siblings have been waiting for years for grandchildren from our own 10       children. Now that we 2 elder children are in 70's and 60's the grand-babies       are starting to arrive (three in the past two years born to children in their       late 30's). Those children who are new parents (and formerly were       disinterested) may suddenly have an awakening interest in family heirlooms,       but maybe their children will be THE ones to preserve their history and beauty.               I would suggest to make sure the family knows your concern about       keeping things in the family and what the history of each item is (written       down and maybe attached to the item, or put into a book). Then make out your       will to include all blood related persons who by the time we die, could be       remotely interested in preserving history of the family. Suggest that after       you are gone, priority should be given to the most interested parties who       would preserve them as curators.               Since we will be deceased, it will no longer be our concern when       that time comes, on whether they want to sell them and keep the money, or have       the youngest members who maybe inherited our collector-genes, have them. Just       let them know your desires now, and make sure they have the history easily       available, so they can make an informed decision."              One of our followers on FaceBook sent us images of a unique bottle stopper and       wanted to know if anyone can tell her something about it: "Hi Phil. I've       attached two pictures of an item I've spent hours trying to research. This       wine bottle stopper is approximately 5" tall including cork and is heavy,       weighs around 12 oz. The figure is a jolly man sitting in a wine barrell       playing the violin AND he has wings!. He doesn't look like an angel and I       can't find any fairies that are anything like him. I think he is made of       chalkware, based on texture and details. There are no identifying marks.        I'll put his picture on facebook and hopefully you or some readers can shed       some light on this happy little guy. Thank you, Glenda"              If you'd like to see the images, please visit our FaceBook page here:       https://www.facebook.com/TIASAntiques                     WE NEED YOUR STORY ABOUT COLLECTING.
