Here are a few of the responses that we received. Thank you to all who       replied! If after reading these stories, you would like to share your       experiences with us, please send them to Phil@BigNews.biz....Keep them coming       :-)              From Paul B.:              "I was riding my bike down the street as a young boy, and always had a keen       eye for "good stuff". One afternoon l noticed an old black case of some kind       sticking out of a trash can. I quickly stopped my bike and pulled out an old       violin case. I brought it home to Mom, and she opened it up. Inside was a       very old violin that said "Stradivarius ". My parents got very exited and       sent it to be appraised. After it was explained to me what this was I       couldn't wait to hear the news from the appraiser. It was returned to us       along with a letter. The letter explained that it was a very well made copy       of a Stradivarius but not the real thing. I still have the violin along with       the framed letter, both of which remind me of that exciting experience."              From Carol:              "Hi Phil - One morning my husband and I were on our way to pick up some       groceries and as I drove down a local street there was a white, painted corner       cupboard sitting along side the curb with a big "FREE" sign attached. I       slammed on the brakes and my husband thought I was crazy. I backed up,       stopped and walked up the driveway to the house to make sure the item was free       and the lady assured me it was. About that time her husband came out of the       garage and asked if we'd like another one. Said he was just using it to store       his oil cans.....so of course I took both. Took the first one to my antique       booth in a mall and it sold within a day. Upped the price on the second one       and it also sold within a day (decided I really priced them too cheaply but       since I had nothing invested no loss). But several weeks later I was in       another antique store and there sat one of the cupboards priced at three times       what I sold it for! I learned a lot during those few weeks."       -----------------------------------------------------------------              --- BBBS/Li6 v4.10 Dada-1        * Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38)    |
