      9. A Vintage Recipe Be sure to check out our vintage recipe archive online at:       http://www.tias.com/newsletter/topics/A%20Vintage%20Recipe.html       Over 1200 wonderful vintage recipes are listed.              Last week Tara G. asked for a recipe for a breakfast made with bacon and       sausage on a biscuit. Here's a recipe that sounds like it might be what she       was looking for: Pork Sausage Croutes       Cooking time: 15 mins.       Preparation time: few mins       Main cooking utensils: skillet, broiler pan, or toaster              For 6 people you need:       12 pork sausages       3 slices bacon       2 tomatoes       2 dessert apples       little shortening       6 rounds bread              1. Prick and fry the sausages until golden brown CÇô they should be fried       without extra fat.       2. When cooked put onto a hot dish and keep warm. 3. Cut each bacon slice       into halves, roll and secure with a wooden toothpick and fry with little or no       shortening until crisp, put with the sausages. 4. Slice the tomatoes CÇô do       not cook. 5. Fry the cored, sliced apples in the hot fat until golden brown       on either side.       6. Toast the bread (or fry if preferred). 7. Put the sausages on top of the       bread, then rings of apple and tomato; garnish with parsley.       8. Arrange bacon rolls around dish. TO SERVE: Hot with baked beans or mashed       potatoes and a green vegetable.       TO VARY: Spread the bread with a little mustard or chutney after toasting.              --------       10. A vintage recipe request from a reader:              "Hi Phil, Do you think any of your readers have a great recipe for lemon       bars? I've tried the newer recipes but I was wondering if anyone had an old       family recipe that might be really special. My husband loves them and I       thought it would be nice to make them for him for Father's Day. Thanks so       much! Amanda L. "              As with collectibles, people also have very strong feelings about foods from       their past. Sometimes these special recipes get lost. This section is to       help people who are looking for lost recipes from their past. If you submit a       request, please include the geographical region where you tasted the recipe.              --              If you can help this reader with this recipe, please forward it to       phil@bignews.biz . If you have a vintage recipe request send it to       phil@bignews.biz and we might just publish it here.
