One of our readers sent a picture of a sectioned plate with matching cup and       what appeared to be a spot for a cigarette. Most commenters seemed to agree       that this was actually to place the chop sticks. Back in the day, many lunch       plate sets with cups also had a built in ash tray, so it's easy to see why       Amanda might have thought that's what it was for. One reader suggested it was       pink or red willow. Barbara S. wrote: "The dish with the cup and the section       for a cig or chopsticks looks like the kind of luncheon plates used during the       1950/1960CÇÖs that we had in the USA. In America the ladies used them when       they had bridge club or a lunch affair. I had a few sets that were glass       hobnail and milk glass." One reader suggested: "All 3 are American $1 gold coins but the       value as coins is totally gone since they are severely defaced. This brooch       will be near impossible to sell for anything greater than it's melt/bullion       worth as determined by it's weight." Karen Molanare was kind enough to do some very       thorough research: "I did some research.. Same Patent number but different       War Logos and Condition I'm seeing $50-70. The History I found from the Logo       "Pearl Harbor USS UTE ATF 76" .... The Ship was launched 6/24/42 as the "USS       UTE AT 76" and on 12/13/42 was common..." Thank you Karen! This was very       interesting to read!
