A Vintage Recipe       Be sure to check out our vintage recipe archive online at: http:       /www.tias.com/newsletter/topics/A%20Vintage%20Recipe.html       Over 1200 wonderful vintage recipes are listed.              We had a few responses to last week's request from Laurie from Michigan for a       coconut filled bundt cake. Here's one from Linda L: "Laurie R. from Michigan       wanted to know how to make a Chocolate Bundt cake with a tunnel of coconut. I       hope this will help.              1 box of dark chocolate cake mix ( the ones with pudding in the mix are       better). Mix cake according to directions. Pour 2/3 of mix into greased       bundt pan. Then mix together 3 cups of Bakers sweetened coconut, a can of       sweetened condensed milk and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Spread this in       the center of the cake mixture and then cover with the rest of the cake       mixture. Bake about 50 - 55 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Allow cake to cool       .Remove from pan and drizzle with a glaze made with 2 cups confectioners'       sugar, 1 Tb. butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 2 TB milk, Enjoy       --       *Note - the recipes are submitted by fellow Collectors Newsletter       readers and are not checked for accuracy or tested by the TIAS staff. Keep in       mind that many of these recipes were created at a time when there were no       worries about such things as raw eggs, for example - so modern kitchen safety       should prevail.       --------------------              9. A vintage recipe request from a reader:              Here's a request from Jack M. for a crumb cake:              "Looking for a great bakery type recipe for crumb cake CÇö the kind with a       really thick layer of crumbs (not too dry) over a very thin layer of crumb       bun-like cake! Thanks, Jack"              As with collectibles, people also have very strong feelings about foods from       their past. Sometimes these special recipes get lost. This section is to help       people who are looking for lost recipes from their past. If you submit a       request, please include the geographical region where you tasted the recipe.              If you have a vintage recipe request send it to recipes@tias.com and we might       just publish it here.              TIAS.com merchants have well over 4,000 cookbooks for sale! You can       see them here: http://www.tias.com/books/cooking/              Be sure to check out our vintage kitchen collectibles section online at:       http://www.tias.com/showcase/1/Kitchen_Collectibles/1.html       ----------------       --------------------------              --- BBBS/Li6 v4.10 Dada-1        * Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38)    |
