      10. A vintage recipe request from a reader:              There are a few recipes that are still needed. Can anyone help?              1. "I had--and lost--a recipe a friend gave me in the early '70s. She called       it Chicken and Pilaf or Chicken and Rice Pilaf. She got the recipe from her       mother who lived in the San Diego area. She said she thought her mom got the       recipe from a magazine. I remember a lot, but not enough. You saut+¬ed rice       and broken vermicelli briefly; I seem to recall seasonings added to that       saut+¬. The slightly browned rice and vermicelli then went into a casserole       dish and topped with raw chicken pieces (I used beasts). The recipe called for       cream of mushroom soup and (maybe) cream of chicken soup or cream of celery       soup. Some of the soup was poured over the ingredients in the casserole which       was then baked. The rest of the soup was cooked on stovetop with seasonings       and a bit of sherry. The stovetop sauce was served on the side. The sauce       was brownish, but I can't remember what gave it that deeper color. I hope one       of your readers can supply the recipe. Thanks, all. Susan O."              2. "Back in the 70's I remember my mom baking a Bundt Cake that was dark       chocolate with a "tunnel" of white coconut in the middle. this was so good! I       have not seen this type of cake mix in the stores for ages. Does anyone know       if they're still available? or does anyone have a similar scratch recipe I       could try? Thank you for helping. Laurie R from Michigan"              3. "Carrots, cauliflower, maybe potatoes? Maybe peas? Breaded topping ? Joan       T"              As with collectibles, people also have very strong feelings about foods from       their past. Sometimes these special recipes get lost. This section is to help       people who are looking for lost recipes from their past. If you submit a       request, please include the geographical region where you tasted the recipe.              If you have a vintage recipe request send it to recipes@tias.com and we might       just publish it here.              Be sure to check out our vintage kitchen collectibles section online at:       http://www.tias.com/showcase/1/Kitchen_Collectibles/1.html       ----------------       --------------------------              --- BBBS/Li6 v4.10 Dada-1        * Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38)    |
