   10. A vintage recipe request from a reader:

There are a few recipes that are still needed. Can anyone help?

   1. "I had--and lost--a recipe a friend gave me in the early '70s. She called
it Chicken and Pilaf or Chicken and Rice Pilaf. She got the recipe from her
mother who lived in the San Diego area. She said she thought her mom got the
recipe from a magazine. I remember a lot, but not enough. You saut+¬ed rice
and broken vermicelli briefly; I seem to recall seasonings added to that
saut+¬. The slightly browned rice and vermicelli then went into a casserole
dish and topped with raw chicken pieces (I used beasts). The recipe called
for cream of mushroom soup and (maybe) cream of chicken soup or cream of
celery soup. Some of the soup was poured over the ingredients in the
casserole which was then baked. The rest of the soup was cooked on stovetop
with seasonings and a bit of sherry. The stovetop sauce was served on the
side. The sauce was brownish, but I can't remember what gave it that deeper
color. I hope one of your readers can supply the recipe. Thanks, all. Susan
   O."

   2. "I think ? this was the name of a very simple and elegant dessert which was
published in one of the early (newspaper style) Country People "magazines"
maybe in the early 70s or so? It seems it was just melted chocolate of some
type, and maybe eggs? and/or heavy cream?? I know that's not too much to go
on, but if anyone remembers or has it, it would be a good one to share with
me, and others. Thanks. Tired and REtired Sandi C"

   3. "Back in the 70's I remember my mom baking a Bundt Cake that was dark
chocolate with a "tunnel" of white coconut in the middle. this was so good!
I have not seen this type of cake mix in the stores for ages. Does anyone
know if they're still available? or does anyone have a similar scratch recipe
I could try? Thank you for helping. Laurie R from Michigan"

   4. "Grew up with it [scrapple] as a child from PA. I've tried to make it but
can't seem to get correct amounts.it will not firm up enough to slice and
fry. Any one have a recipe? I sure would appreciate it. thanks Lyle"

   5. "Carrots, cauliflower, maybe potatoes? Maybe peas? Breaded topping
   ? Joan T"

As with collectibles, people also have very strong feelings about foods from
their past. Sometimes these special recipes get lost. This section is to help
people who are looking for lost recipes from their past. If you submit a
request, please include the geographical region where you tasted the recipe.

If you have a vintage recipe request send it to recipes@tias.com and we might
   just publish it here.
