A Vintage Recipe Be sure to check out our vintage recipe archive online at:       http://www.tias.com/newsletter/topics/A%20Vintage%20Recipe.html       Over 1200 wonderful vintage recipes are listed. ---- Last week              Beverly asked for a recipe for a chocolate filled angel food cake. Anna S       sent this delicious sounding recipe in: GRANDMA SICKLES CAKE AND FROSTING-       Must be refrigerated       1 Angel food cake mix, baked and cooled / or a store bought angel food cake       FROSTING       1 - small package of instant chocolate pudding 1 - 8oz. pkg. of Philadelphia       cream cheese (room temperature) 1 - cup of milk       1 - 8 oz. tub of Cool Whip (defrosted)              NOTE: You can substitute any flavor of pudding and type/flavor       of cake mix.              DIRECTIONS:              Put soften cream cheese into a large mixing bowl, use a little of the measured       milk to cream lightly with a electric mixer, add the rest of the milk and mix       well until lump free, dump in INSTANT pudding, continue to mix with mixer       until completely       blended. By hand with a spatula fold in cool whip until completely blended.        Cut the angel food cake into a top and a bottom. Top bottom section with a       small amount of filling. Place top over the filling and use the rest of the       frosting to ice the cake. [You can also pinch out a channel of cake to add       fresh fruit like; Berries, Bananas, Pitted Black Cherries etcCǪ just stay       away from wet fruit.]              My favorite to feed a crowd:       Yellow cake mix baked in a jellyroll pan, cooled, frosting made with instant       vanilla pudding. Ice the cake and use a knife to score lines into a grid for       a guide to cut the cake. In the center of each square, place [well drained &       blotted] 1 piece canned pineapple tidbit,       1 piece canned mandarin orange + 1/2 of a jarred maraschino cherry. This is a       great summer cake. Anna S.
