Now for the other side of the issue:              "Hi, in response to your topic of asking for a lower price, even on a       $10.00 item. Of course I ask for a lower price because I always assume       that the seller has upped the price so much already and that they factor in       having to "haggle" with a customer. Let's say the item is marked as       $10.00. I figure that they really want $7.50 because they know that no       one ever wants to pay full price so if I offer $5.00, then we can meet in the       middle at $7.50. I'm happy that I got the price lowered and the seller still       made money off of me. Everyone wins! Carol G."              "I always figure that it can't hurt to ask for a lower price on an item in an       antique store or at a flea market and especially at a garage sale. I assume       that many of those places just want to get rid of their items so they might be       willing to go a little lower. What does it hurt to ask? Sometimes I'm       actually willing to pay the price that the item is offered for, but if I can       get it for a little less, that's even better. I don't do that kind of thing       at a retail store like Macy's or Target because the cashier is in no position       to lower the price..
