      9. A Vintage Recipe Be sure to check out our vintage recipe archive online at:       http://www.tias.com/newsletter/topics/A%20Vintage%20Recipe.html              Over 1200 wonderful vintage recipes are listed. Our most recent request asked:              "Can you ask your readers if any of them remember something called       honeyscotch? When we were kids my mother would make it on special occasions       and we would pour it over ice cream for dessert. Thanks, Charlie"              Here is a recipe from Linda L.:              Honeyscotch Sauce              In a 3qt. saucepan mix 1 C. Sugar and 2/3 C.Honey Cook over a medium heat,       stirring occasionally until you have the desired caramel color and aroma,       being careful to not let it burn. Remove from heat and stir in 1 1/2 Cups       Heavy Cream and 3 Tbs. Butter.              This can be stored in a covered dish in the refrigerator for a couple of weeks       -----              Carol T. also sent something in. This is the "hard" version of Honeyscotch :)              "Pour your honey into a flat pan and get it hot; it gets thin. Add an ounce       of Scotch whisky and blend it in with the honey. It will seem awfully thin,       but as soon as the hot sauce hits the ice cream, you get the effect of       thickness. It pools in the bottom of the cup. carol T."              10. A vintage recipe request from a reader:              "My husband and I are hosting a Halloween party. We've asked our guests       (there's only 10 of them) to dress like someone, or something, from the 20's,       30's 40's, 50's, 60's or 70's. I thought it might be fun to make some vintage       Halloween recipes to go along with the vintage costumes. I know I could find       a book and look them up, but I thought I'd ask if any of your readers have any       ideas. Thank you, Melissa N."              As with collectibles, people also have very strong feelings about foods from       their past. Sometimes these special recipes get lost. This section is to help       people who are looking for lost recipes from their past. If you submit a       request, please include the geographical region where you tasted the recipe.              --              If you can help this reader with this recipe, please forward it to       phil@bignews.biz . If you have a vintage recipe request send it to       phil@bignews.biz and we might just publish it here.              Be sure to check out our vintage kitchen collectibles section online at:       http://www.tias.com/showcase/1/Kitchen_Collectibles/1.html       -------------       -----------------------------------------------------------------              --- BBBS/Li6 v4.10 Dada-1        * Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38)    |
