   Last week we asked:

Many people collect things because of the memories inspired by those objects.
All of us have deep memories within us. Sometimes they are triggered by a
smell or a phrase, but many times they are brought alive by a simple object
from our past. To collect these things is to hold onto something dear and
precious from the past. How about you? Tell us your story of some small
vintage item that you remember from your past that has strong memories.

Here is one that we received. If after reading this story, you would like to
share your story with us (and our readers), please send them to
hil@BigNews.biz....We love reading all of the interesting emails that we
   receive!

"You requested memories triggered by vintage items. I do have a few. We
lived with my Grandparents and we had a coal burning furnace. I can remember
her using a long metal poker to move the coal around in the furnace to make
room for more coal when I was a teen. Somehow my husband and I found a poker
just like the one my Grandmother used in some of the items we bought at an
auction. We do not know how it became mixed up with ours and do not remember
seeing at the auction. I cleaned it up and painted it with flat black paint
for metal. Since I have a vintage kitchen with a regular size window in it, I
used it as a curtain rod at this window. I am reminded of her whenever I see
   it."

If you have a story to share with our readers, please email it to
phil@Bignews.biz and we will include it in an upcoming issue.

? Send your photo and description to - Phil@BigNews.biz and maybe we will run

   Next request for identification help:

"Hi Phil - great newsletter. I'm wondering if you or our readers can tell me
what my mystery item really is. I've attached photos. The curious thing
about the item is that the glass container is without venting, so the liquid
or whatever was inside can't be poured out normally. The wood/brass stand it
hangs on does have a "drip tray?" below the solid glass ball shaped bottom.
Any ideas? Terry" To see photos of Terry's item copy and paste this link into
your browser so you can see the photos on our facebook page: htt

   think?)
