Before you know it Thanksgiving,       Hanukkah and Christmas will arrive. Do you have any vintage decorations that       you use to decorate your home? Are there any specific memories that you have       about certain decorations? We'd love to hear from you! Send us an email to       Phil@BigNews.biz so we can share your story with the rest of our readers.              In our last newsletter we asked:       "What is a strange or odd thing that you collect?" We'd love to know about       it. Is it strange to everyone who sees it? Do you display it proudly? Why do       you collect it? Tell us about it." Here are some responses that we received:              "Hi, Phil. About 20 years ago, I started collecting eyeglasses (mostly       sunglasses) that were run over. Still driving the same car (24 years), they       accumulated in my car trunk. They can take on some very interesting shapes.        A friend saw them and started using them in her artwork and has created some       really funny and interesting pieces. She has even sold some of her artwork.        Roger "              "Hi Phil, In thinking about strange collections I think this would qualify as       strange. After my grandmother died, and we were cleaning out her belongings,       we stumbled across a collection of newspaper obituaries that had been       meticulously cut out of the newspaper. As far as we can tell, these       obituaries had no relation to our family and none of the names sounded       familiar, at all, to us so we don't think that my grandmother knew any of       these people. There were hundreds and hundreds of obits! They dated back to       the 1980's. Mentally she was as sharp as a tack when she passed away so we       don't think there was any dementia involved in her doing this. We've never       been able to figure out why she might have saved these or who the people       were. Janice L."              "I always thought it was strange when, as a little girl, I would go to my       elderly Aunt and Uncle's house and see their collection of broken teeth that       they kept in a jar in the kitchen. Merilee"              Thanks to those of you who have been responding! We really enjoy, and       appreciate, the feedback!       ---------       --------------------------              --- BBBS/Li6 v4.10 Dada-1        * Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38)    |
