I do not know when the       bakery went out of business but think it would have been pre 1950's but could       be off there. These make a nice soft oatmeal cookie that keep well. Hope       your readers enjoy it.              Jim H.              Henry W's Bakery Oatmeal Cookies              This recipe comes from one of the old bakeries in Corvallis, OR. These are a       moist and flavorful raisin-oatmeal cookie, though a little more work, they are       worth the extra effort.        1 cup shortening        2 cups sugar (at least 1/2 brown)        3 eggs        2 cups ground raisins        1/2 cup milk        1 1/2 cups oatmeal (old fashioned)        3 cups pastry flour or cake flour        1 heaping teaspoon soda        1 teaspoon vanilla        1 teaspoon cinnamon        1/4 teaspoon nutmeg        1/4 teaspoon cloves        Salt if desired              Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees)                     Email recipes@tias.com if you have a vintage recipe you'd like to share or if       you're looking for a recipe!       --------------------------              --- BBBS/Li6 v4.10 Toy-3        * Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38)    |
