request, please include the geographical region where you tasted the recipe.
If you have a vintage recipe request send it to recipes@tias.com and we might
   just publish it here.

Lynn B. contributed a story above, and also submitted this old recipe "...from
an early 1900s Golden Rule Co. cookbook/household help book. I'm tempted to
give this particular one a try, if I can find lard and figure out what a
   "moderate" oven is lol!"

   Ginger Cookies

   1 cup brown sugar
   3 cups sifted pastry flour
1 1/2 teaspoons Gold Rule Soda
1 1/2 teaspoons Gold Rule Baking Powder 3 teaspoons Golden Rule Ginger
   1 teaspoon Golden Rule Cinnamon
   1 teaspoon Golden Rule Cloves
   1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 cup Golden Rule Barbados Molasses 1 cup lard or Gold Rule Olive Oil
   1 cup boiling water
   2 eggs
   3/4 cup Golden Rule Currants

SIFT THE DRY INGREDIENTS. Add the beaten eggs, then the melted lard
or olive oil, next the boiling water and then the molasses, stirring well.
Then add the currants. Drop from a tablespoon onto oiled tins and bake in a
moderate oven for about 15 minutes. Makes 9 dozen.
