This could turn out to be serious fun when we have it, I still have some
original games for my Miggies...

I still have the good old RPM, it's actually quite well documented and I use

 for software distribution as well.

When you're in a genuine FTP client, use the binary mode.

Doesn't it compile with ./configure && make && make install once you're in 
the
right directory?
