At 10:20 AM on 18 Sep 03, Neil Williams said to Dennis Smith:              NW> Hi,       ...       NW> The CPU, AFAIK, starts reading from zero on whatever it is connected to,       NW> so it effectively control itself.               DS> Well, I would like to determine a component/device first. Let's look at        DS> that CTRL+(L)Amiga+(R)Amiga. What's the eletrical equivalent of these        DS> keystrokes? How is a reset carried out by a device. When I turn on the       ...       NW> The reset is by software, at least on the keyboard controller side.       ...       NW> Hence, it's the power LED you want to see blink when you reset by C-A-A.       NW> If it doesn't blink the problem is in the area of the CPU (when my       NW> original CS-PPC died, the LED never blinked and acted the same whether       NW> the 4000 had the failed CPU card installed or not at all!).               Right now, I'm not getting no reset or any change in the power LED.        It seems to me that a hardware RESET causes the power LED change. That's        the circuit that needs checking.       [...]       NW> It's the power LED you want to see flash. Even a perpetual guru would be       NW> a start :)               =:o "...perpetual guru..."! Actually the KS bootup screen qualifies with        it's graphical perpetual floppy disk going in the drive. I'm trying        to get to that point! It's CPU or it Set/Reset circuit with new KSrom.                      NW> If you determine that the fault is on the motherboard, and everything       NW> else is fine, get another 2000. They go for very little on eBay. You can       NW> even then sell the broken one to get some money back (people will buy       NW> any old crap on eBay ;-)              The A2K we're dicussing came from E-Bay for exactly that purpose - backup!       Since my PPS ZEUS won't upgrade to OS3.1, so the backup was used. Worked       damn good for about a year+. :)               I trying to decide which system to continue with KS2.05 & WB2.1 or KS3.1 &       OS3.9. Which is the more classical?               The AmigaOne is setup for OS3.1. I fiddled the Emergency-Disks Startups       to boot the CDs either OS3.5 or OS3.9 in UAE. :) So, I not a crisis of        being without an Amiga. Now that's poor when your Amigaless! =:o               I would like to spend time & resources on AmigaOne. That's why I got it!!       Can you recommend a SCSI contoller for the A1. They're not cheap, but it's       difficult to determine what works with linux? Someone mentioned that even       if I had SCSI, linux UAE doesn't have the UAESCSI driver like WinUAE. So,       that crinkles that plan.              The Frieden brothers are back talking in the AmigaWorld.net forums! OS4 is       just around the corner! They're short a graphic.libraries rewrite from       booting up OS4 on AmigaOne PPC native. Sounds good! :)              :Dennis               * Q-Blue 2.4        --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5        * Origin: Eastpointe BBS (1:120/228)    |
