Hi Benny!              Benny Pedersen wrote to Rene Laederach:       BP> but sure the games are fun, even on a old a500, i still have it working,        BP> just need to get a hold of a arcnet card so miami can do its work to my        BP> linux box, i have 4 arcnet cards for amiga 500, still working :)              I don't have that much room available, and frankly, I don't always see the       sense behind this.               BP> and 3 arcnet for z2 slot, and lastly a a2065, networking is fun with        BP> miamidx              I got rid of my ArcNet cards some six years ago when I got my permanent       connection to the internet. Simple economics - the Cisco router that would       have had arcnet interfaces would have cost me some additional 1300 Swiss       Francs over ethernet. And Ethernet was somewhat faster even back then.              BP> RL> we might have more games available       BP>        BP> where ?              There are companies porting or writing Linux games. See       www.linuxgames.com or www.happypenguin.org. And of course       www.lokigames.com.              BP> well if i have had the money, i will sure doit, but i field i have done a        BP> good job at keep the spirit of amiga programs alive, when the pay back        BP> time comes i still like the amiga for being the best computer ever maked,        BP> its best os and got more power out of 7 mhz cpu ever one can dream on              Sure, but times are moving on. Even I, pretty die-hard Amiga fanatic, have        come        to that conclusion.              BP> amiga lives, just not the current hardware and or plans for new hardware,        BP> as long as there exists cheapper intels there wont be amiga, but i would        BP> like to have Unix Amiga Emulator up in some time, just to see some cdroms        BP> working on the games therein              It's not forcibly the price, if you look at the current PowerBooks and       PowerMacs. It's the problem that we need a viable and wide-spread software       platform. If we have this, we can possibly win back the hearts and have       a following like the Mac platform.              Also, today the City of Munich pretty much decided to switch all their       desktops and servers to Linux over a period of years. Looks like M$       got shafted.                                   --        email: mussi@snoop.alphanet.ch | "If you're taking flak,       Fidonet: 2:301/133 | you're above the target."                     --- MBSE BBS v0.36.00 (Linux-i386)        * Origin: Snoop InfoSystems - a Micro$loth Free Zone 4ever (2:301/133)    |
