Hello Patrik!              27 Aug 17 12:33, you wrote to me:               IJ>> Yes, I tried that, but no luck.        PA> What exactly did not work? Adding the file system to the RDB with        PA> correct DosType or be able to select "PFS\03" as "File System:" in        PA> HDToolBox?        PA> It should look like this:        PA> http://megaburken.net/~patrik/HDToolBox/File%20System%20Maintenance.pn        PA> g http://megaburken.net/~patrik/HDToolBox/File%20System%20Characterist        PA> ics.png              Yep, it looked that way, but...               PA>>> Then reboot and do a quick format of the partition. PFS will        PA>>> show a requester when you format it confirming it is formatted        PA>>> using PFS.        IJ>> Nope, no requester. It tried to format it as FFS.        PA> In that case, the "File System:" DosType for that partition must have        PA> been something else than 0x50465303/"PFS\03". If you attempt to format        PA> a partition with a non-standard file system DosType from Workbench,        PA> you will not get the option to select "Fast File System:" and if you        PA> format from the shell, the FFS switch will not have any effect.               PA> Also always remember to only do quick format if you are under 3.1 as        PA> the zero writing part of a non-quick format is done by the formatting        PA> program itself, not the filesystem handler and is not 4GB+ aware and        PA> will wrap.              ... I always did a full format and not a quick format. Guess, that was the       mistake why it didn't work. :-)               PA>>> OS3.9 is nice and has a more user friendly HDToolBox, however it        PA>>> is not needed if your goal is to use the entire 4GB+ drive with        PA>>> PFS3.        IJ>> So far, OS3.9 is running quite well. Makes me wondering why I        IJ>> refused to update earlier. Maybe because it's not the "original"        IJ>> OS3.1.        PA> I understand what you mean =). I still run 3.1 on a couple of Amigas,        PA> like the A2000 I am writing this on, as it feels more "original".              Yes, exactly! The new icons look awful - or something is wrong with my       palette. However, OS3.9 is a leap forward in regards of large disks, so I       guess I'll stick with it... :-)              Anyway, thanks for your support! :)       Ingo                     --- GoldED+/LNX 1.1.5--b20170303        * Origin: AmigaXess - back in FidoNet after 17 years (2:2452/413)    |
