|    Amiga serial ports    |

Hello,              Here's a wiring arrangement Amiga PC       that should work for SLIP or ~~~~~~ ~~~~~       PPP between Amiga 25 pin and FG 1       PC 9 pin serial ports. It is       an ordinary DTE-to-DTE "null TXD 2 ----\/---- 3 TXD       modem" cable that would also RXD 3 <---/\---> 2 RXD       let you log into the PC from       the Amiga if you were running RTS 4 ----\/---- 7 RTS       unix on the PC, or let you CTS 5 <---/\---> 8 CTS       log into the Amiga if it's       running BBS software that DTR 20 ----\/---- 4 DTR       supports a direct connection. DSR 6 <-+-/\-+-> 6 DSR       I've a vague recollection DCD 8 <-' `-> 1 DCD       that the Amiga could be       persuaded to dump information from its serial port in the event of a crash and       I wouldn't be surprised if AmigaDOS could redirect its console to/from the       serial port.              Power supply pins (stay away from these) follow. These pin- outs are straight       from the web, so check for yourself before using them, or any pins other than       the eight shown above. Use good screened/shielded untwisted cable and connect       the screen to pin one (frame ground) at the Amiga end only.              A1000 Other Amigas               14 -5V 50mA max 9 +12V 20mA max        21 +5V 10 -12V 20mA max        23 +12V 20mA max              Hope this helps,        - Andy Ball.              --- BBBS/LiI v4.01 Flag        * Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38)    |
