I'm sure, there were some old guys really knew their onions
part of that ham club. I think we inherited it from the
full capability station, the vfo for the tx got hidden away
and we got xtal control of course for novices, and possibly
a different tx, when the upper classes got the Collins
   transceiver.

RW>EV> Those 866 Mercury Vapor Rectifiers wouldn't like it if I'd pressed

RW>Nope, they sure wouldn't. You'd sure let the magic smoke

YEp, first secret, keep the smoke in the wires and
   components.

RW>Yep, sounds about right for some of that old gear. Operated the old Viking

EV> IIRC, that was the Johnson Viking 500 instead of the Viking II.

Yep, I operated the II, but have seen the 500.

EV> I saw a 500 once and found out it that what I saw on the top of the

YEp, recall that too. I think the outfit I saw with the 500 had been rack
mounted. I seem to recall its owner had done
some customization to make it rack mountable in its various
   modules, etc.

   Regards,
