That's a bummer. The Delta amateur radio club in MEmphis
does quite a bit to encourage new licensees, numerous
classes offered throughout the year, etc.

My disappointment in the no code general and abobve is that
they lost the code requirement for the extra, which imho
should have been retained, at the 5 wpm level at least.
MOrse is a part of our radio heritage, just as you must
learn about fast scan television a bit, calibrating test
equipment, etc. to get that extra you should have a bit of
   knowledge of the code.

I do a lot with public service and humanitarian aid ham
radio, and my big frustration is people who refuse to learn
to operate with some discipline but want to participate in
these activities. Part of participating or utilizing a
directed net is learning to pay attention to the
   instructions of net control, etc.

Anybody who's actually interested can find info on my main
ham radio acativities by paying a visit with your browser to 14300.net on the
   web.
