Just be glad that we are in Ham Radio.               I went for my no-code non-tech back in the early 90s when it first came on the       scene. I was about 16, and the people there made me feel like a douche so I       walked out. I realized it was a hobby dominated by strange       acting/looking/smelling people who really have nothing else in life to do.              Fast forward almost 20 years, and I decided hell with it, I'm gonna go get it.        I never opened a book, looked at any study materials, etc. and I passed. A       month after, I decided to go for the General. I passed, but while waiting for       my results, I encountered the same 'type', just in a different part of the       country this time.              This time it was far worse. These guys act like they're some privledged group       just because the partake in RACES and other obsolete clubs. These guys put       amber lights on their vehicles, load them with like 20 radios, and act like an       authoritive figure. What a f'n joke! A *great* website to check out is       hamsexy.com where they clown on these guys. I found it the night of my general       exam test when I googled those douchebags. If you browse the site, you'll see       references to collin and his wife... Those are the ones...                > Any more when people ask why I haven't gone for General or Extra class I tel        > them its people like you that keep bugging us to.               +1               > This is Why I don't join in any clubs anymore.              This is why I never considered joining a club...              It gets even worse. After I got my tech, but before general I went out to a       radio shop in Boulder City, Nevada... A place called Radio World       (http://www.radio-nv.com/) and wanted to buy an old Icom ic-745 to get ready       for 40 meters... So anyway, I went there and he quoted me $450 with a desk       mike, power supply not included. I agreed and told him I didn't have the cash       on me, but wanted to buy the power supply that day. I was sold a 25amp'r for       $60 which I thought was a deal. Anyway, a week later I go back and tell him I       want the radio and the mike. All is good, except now the price is $800, and       the mike is an extra $50. When I called the owner, Dave, out on it he acted       like I didn't know anything about radio, nor the prices. (the $450 price is       comparable to ebay) So anyway, at this time I was just a retarded no-code       techie who didn't have a fucking clue. I never went back to this douchebag       again...              This is why I went to cb instead... I have my license (kf7ljl) but haven't made       any contacts outside of the ao-27 and ao-51 satellites.              Fuck ham radio... I got the license just for myself, to prove I could do it       without any study... Besides, you have these wanna-be 'radio cops' (official       observers) who police the bands and rat you out to the fcc for any little       reason. These people really have no fucking life!       -+-       -SD       SilvaDolla.net - telnet:bbs.SilvaDolla.net / [7o2] 447-o955       --- SBBSecho 2.12-Win32        * Origin: Silva Dolla BBS - SilvaDolla.net - (702) 447-0955 (1:209/950)    |
