RW>I forgot to put a smilely on that one. I know of the case. 8^)

RW>Dunno if you have any Jack-in-the-Box restaurants around your area, but
RW>they too were sued by a person who got ill from eating one of their
RW>hamburgers that was tainted with the E Coli bacteria/virus(?)...The end
RW>result was that 'Jack' decided that you couldn't get a hamburger cooked
RW>'your way' anymore; it had to be cooked 'well done' (burnt in my book) to
RW>kill the E. Coli. Tom is probably well aware of this, as JitB used to be
RW>owned by Ralston-Purina in San Diego and has since gone privately owned by
   RW>their employees.

I sure do rembember them. their place was up on Kerny Mesa and thet had
a water tower with their logo on it. I used to kid people that they
stored their "Secret Sause" in it.
Thh wife of the founder was the Mayor of San Diego for a while and after
he died and Inherted the monew she Gambled it ALL away plis a million of
   so.

"SAN DIEGO - Maureen O'Connor was a physical education teacher who won a
seat on the San Diego City Council when she was only 25 years old,
later winning two terms as the city's first female mayor as she charmed
   voters with a populist flair.

But her rapid rise was matched by her fall, culminating Thursday when
she acknowledged in federal court that she took $2.1 million from her
late husband's charitable foundation during a decade-long gambling spree
in which she won - and lost - more than $1 billion."

O'Connor, 66, once had a personal fortune that her attorney estimated
between $40 million and $50 million, inherited from her husband of 17
years, Robert O. Peterson, founder of the Jack in the Box Inc. fast-food
chain. She is now virtually broke, living with a sister."

RW>We went in their store here in Texas last week and it was a very big
RW>disappointment from their glory days. The place smelled like an old greasy
RW>diner and it was filthy. They had no iced tea fountain drinks and the
RW>service was very poor, like the counter gal was out back taking a bathroom
RW>break with no one to take her place while she was gone. We didn't want to
RW>stay, so we ordered to go. When we got the burgers open, the buns were
RW>soaked in grease and the burgers were burnt to a crisp. I took the receipt
RW>and used the website given on it for 'visiter review' and gave them a
RW>piece of my mind, telling 'Jack' that we wouldn't be back for more of the
   RW>same crap.

I occasionaly go to one once in a while but they have come down a long
   was since their prime.
My biggest problem is that most of the counter clerks speak borderline
   understandable English.
I am sure you have a lot of that in Texan also
