RW> JG>>> The more I look, the more the BaoFeng Dual Band looks like a better       RW> JG>>> choice for me. I get the feeling it'd be better for connecting       RW> JG>>> to the Repeater in Brookhaven, Mississippi.... What do you think?              RW> RW>> The real question is; are these chinese radios FCC type accepted?              RW> RW>> If not, they may not be legal to use in the US...              RW> TW> From what I have heard IF they are directly imported they are       RW> TW> Illegal. They do not meet FCC standards and the US distributor must       RW> TW> reprogram them to meet the FCC standards.              RW>That's what I was thinking when I read that he was buying it from, and it       RW>would be shipped directly from China...unless it includes an FCC type       RW>acceptance validation statement with the radio, I'd steer clear of it.              As usual I could not find the Article btu there was a review of a couple       of those chineese Radios by Gordon West i nweither CQ or QST. It       mentioned that the radios needed tweeking to be legal i nthe US because       of their Out of Banmd Capabilities. Necesary of course becasue they are       exported to many countries and the frequencies allowed for Hams can vary       between countries.       ---        þ SLMR 2.1a þ 0         * Origin: Since 1991 And Were Still Here!
