EV>The Handbook I brought up here is the 1976 Edition and I can see a       EV>VHF Halo that looks Vertically polarized on page 330 but it doesn't       EV>look anything like the 6 Meter Horizontally polarized Halo I used with       EV>my Sixer.              EV>I will go see if I have a 1967 Handbook to see what this here DDRR       EV>is all about. Thanks!              A properly constructed DDRR only radiates from the tiny vertical       section. The ring, since it is over a groundplane, has nearly all       radiation cancelled.              The DDRR is effectively just a top loaded very short vertical. Since the       ground plane effect of a vehicle is pretty good on two meters, it should       work OK. It won't be as good as a good 1/4 wl, but it could beat some       other bad antennas of course. It should be in the area of a few dB down       from a proper 1/4 wl antenna.              A regular 1/4 wl whip would be a much better choice, unless you are       going for a moble or stealth antenna!       ---        þ SLMR 2.1a þ 0         * Origin: Fidonet Since 1991 Join Us: www.DocsPlace.org (1:123/140)    |
