|    Coax antenna tuning    |

Greetings Holger!               TW>>> but about Balun Matching or 1/2 wavelength Coax matching a dipole               RW>> Baluns are used to tune the antenna to 50ohms. A 1/2 wavelength of        RW>> coax isn't matching the antenna to anything.               HG> No, because a 1/2 w/l (incl. velocity factor) of coax just repeats        HG> the same impedance at the other end.              Right.               RW>> I've experimented with the idea that any length of coax in 1/4 wave        RW>> increments can be used to match a load, but that isn't true.               HG> You can transform impedance with a 1/4 w/l of coax of another        HG> impedance to an impedance that may be more useful.              Yes.               HG> But you can never TUNE an antenna with any sort of feedline.              Well, yes you can because the antenna needs coax attached to it with an RF       signal to be tuned. But I know what you meant. When I was on a ladder,       tuning my 4 element yagi, with the xyl pushing the xmit switch in the       shack, I got a nice RF burn when I touched the Gamma matching device while       she keyed the microphone and I didn't know it.                      Have a day!               R\%/itt - K5RXT              Being judged by McJerkey doesn't define who I am, it defines who he is.                            --- GoldED+/W32 1.1.5-31012       --- D'Bridge 3.99        * Origin: HAM Radio, aka Amateur Radio. 804?
