   I don't think that all amateurs and clubs are like that.  We encourage   
   our members to upgrade and offer them help and classes and hold VE session   
   at our local ham fest.  But we don't "push" anyone. Our Novice, Tech and   
   Tech Plus members are just a valuable as any other member.   
      
      
   In fact at FD we always has a GOTA station for new amateurs to work and   
   somone is there to help and guide them it need be, but even there we invite   
   them to make contacts but don't "push" anyone.   
      
      
   We have a 2 meter, (Repeater), net, 6 meter and 10 meter net to give all of   
   our members and anyone else that wants to a chance to checkin and have a say   
   at anything they want to talk about.  There is no set subject for any net,   
   it's what you want it to be.  You can talk about your dog, your wife, your   
   girlfriend, or what you had to eat today it doesn't matter and someone will   
   probably comment on it.
