Holger,               HG> @MSGID: <5A29D639.1733.amtradio@capitolcityonline.net>        HG> In a message on Thursday 11-21-17 Ed Vance said to Holger Granholm:               HG> GE Ed,               EV> I ain't meaning to nit pick but 11-16-17 was a Thursday, wasn't it?               HG> YES it was, you're correct and the same error is on the top line of        HG> this message. Nov. 21st 2017 was a Tuesday. Spooky!               HG> I did now check everything I can set from the operating system, but        HG> there's no way to tell the OS the weekday name, so I'll probably have        HG> to reboot the machine to get at the BIOS settings.               HG> As the Subject says the problem is now solved.              VERY GOOD!               HG> It wasn't in the BIOS, but in the head of the user. There is a variable              HMMM, did some of the FOG in Ed's Head [TM] excape and traveled through the       Ether to Your part of the world.       NAH!, it couldn't do that, or could it.               HG> in the QWK-program named @DAY@ that I had used in the replay string but        HG> it gave the name of the day when I replied to the msg.               HG> There's another variable, @MSGDATE@ that I also use in that string, and        HG> that one picks the date from the message in the QWK-packet.              OUCH!!!!!               HG> Now, there's no day-of-week to pick from the QWK-packet so the program        HG> picks that weekday from the system instead.              And No Reason for Ed to originate another message about observing what       puzzled Him.               HG> I have now experimented with various variants of the init string and        HG> found that I simply have to abstain of the use of the weekday.               HG> This message may still use one of the experimental strings, but from        HG> now on, the weekday will disappear from all replies.              "Ed DID IT".              Here is a entry I put in My Multi-Mail DOS MMAIL.RC :              # Quote header for replies (non-internet)       QuoteHead:%d %f wrote to %t about %s              I was proud to see that I (FINALLY) got MM to type that line for Me.       You know how lazy a LID can be.              I will have to look in MM's DOC's to see what they say about those @DAY@       and @MSGDATE@ Variables. Another ROUNDTUIT................              But I do like learning, and am glad that I still can.              The pass three weeks I've tried to help a neighbor get His DELL Precision       M20 XP notebook to let Him use Wi-Fi on it.              And I knew nothing about how Wi-Fi worked on His pc, and still don't know       much after finally stumbling on what it takes to get the Wi-Fi LED to       light up on His notebook.              When I got a new Epson All-In-One a few years ago, the first thing I did       to IT was turn the Wi-Fi Setting OFF on it, since I have Cables connected       to everything I use with My computer stuff.              He let me take it home with me and when I took the notebook back to Him,       He told me that He decided to buy a Nextbook Tablet and put the DELL in a       closet.              That is what "Head Scratching" I've been doing while You've been Solving       the Problem I started about Your BBS message DOW (Day-Of-Week).              73 de Ed W9ODR . .                     ... When I'm not in my right mind, my left mind gets pretty crowded.       --- MultiMail/MS-DOS v0.49        * Origin: CCO BBS - capcity2.synchro.net - 1-502-875-8938 (1:2320/105)    |
