They were retired guys (some in their 80s), mostly       from Rancho Bernardo who had nothing better to do. Most were Technicians       because of the 13wpm code hurdle, but they were happy to use the repeater       and help in other ways (field day). They're SKs now, but they stayed       active for the most part.
