If a disaster hit and they needed to get       communication to their family in Chicago, they wouldn't be able to.              I, as a HAM, could theoretically get a message out, but it would be       verbal and passed through others. With Winlink linked via radio,        an email could leave my laptop, go through the HAM, through the radio       network to a place that DOES have Internet service, then be delivered       to their family in Chicago.              Again, in theory. :-)                     ...
