   EV>Tom,

EV>I took the Amateur Extra exam sometime around 1997.
EV>There was a FCC Employee giving the tests. iirc

I don't rembember when thwey changed to the local volunteer examiners
but YES back in those days oen did have to go to an FCC Office and take
   the test under theri Supervision.

EV>I passed the Code part but flunked the Written part and went up a
   EV>Grade from General to Advanced.

EV>I haven't taken a test since then, although I thought about it
   EV>recently.

EV>I grabbed a file off ARRL's site about the Amateur Extra test
EV>some months ago even though I knew another series of questions
EV>was going to be issued a few months later.

EV>I did look at it a bit and thought a lot of it was over my head.

EV>Never have got a ROUNDTUIT to grab the newer Question file yet.

I have that old ROUNDTUIT, Sevreral years ago I bought the Extra Licence
Package from Gordon West in person at a ARRL convention here in San
   Diego.
Never even got around to opening it and now the New Question pool has
   taken effect!!
