HI Tom,              On Tue 2012-Oct-09 07:48, TOM WALKER (1:102/401) wrote to RICHARD WEBB:              TW> Excellenmt Post and sadly true in too many cases.       TW> While the Ranks of The ham Community is climbing the quality leaves       TW> a lot to be desired.       TW> I blame a portion of it on the Mindless Memorization classes where       TW> it is in at 0800 and out at 1700 with the licence.              I'm with you, the mindless memorization is to blame imho.       That, and the folks who push getting your ham license as a       form of continuing education on the job. YEs I believe in       the value of ham radio as an emergency comms tool, but       damit, these folks from the 'agencies" who push their       employees to get a ham license who aren't really into ham       radio do us no justice. They get a license, then never do       anything with it.              A lot of that post could be apropos to fm ops too.              73        Richard, nf5b              ---        * Origin: (1:116/901)    |
