On 06/04/16, Daryl Stout said the following...                DS> True, it gives them an idea of what to expect. Thankfully, I've never        DS> had an instance of "cheating" at my sessions, and hope I never do. I        DS> have heard of some sessions where the exam was "given away". An "honest        DS> examinee" reported it, and the VE's involved were stripped of their        DS> licdenses and accreditations for life...not to mention the examinees had        DS> to go before another VE Team, or the FCC, and test again. If I remember        DS> right, not a single one passed on the second try. Plus, things like this              Thanks for your advice Daryl. We have a VE session coming up next Saturday.       It's going to be a large session too because there is a series of classes       being taught for all three levels of licensing, so we'll actually be able to       put all those extra VEs to work.              I wonder if we will ever get to the point where we administer the exams       with computers, similar to how it's done with driver's tests at the DMV? Of       course that would have its own unique challenges.               DS> 1) When I asked one local ham (long since a Silent Key) what his secret        DS> was to learning CW, he said "I learned all the dirty words first". I        DS> laughed, and admitted "Well, you can't say them on the air, but if it        DS> helps, more power to you". The next week, I heard a club teaching a CW        DS> class over the year, via Echolink. The first 4 letters they taught        DS> formed the "S expletive", and I thought "I'll be damned!!". But, when        DS> you looked at the dot and dash pattern, it made PERFECT SENSE.              Hahahahah! Very good point!              --- Mystic BBS v1.11 (Raspberry Pi)        * Origin: Alcoholiday / Est. 1995 / alco.bbs.io (1:123/525)    |
