   What you point out is exactly what most folks would think!  Reason is that as   
   FidoNet went forward, I was highly 'privately' connected to making sure that   
   Fido and all this went 'upward' to all of the then and 'later' systems that   
   even then were migrating upward, even to what we all are facing today.   
      
   I think very few Fido systems ever would operate between 8" floppy disk boxes   
   back then, even in the same room as, say, 5" systems, where it was absolutely   
   needed that one could shuffle between them.  Especially if complete hardware   
   had to be able to 'privately' run on either one of them at a different place   
   in the world for either one of them.  Suprise you with what is going on   
   today?  I *NEVER* expected to get hit with that...

   I was never even the original N117C for all this.  But one day I woke up in   
   this house and out on the front porch was all the N117 hardware and so on from   
   the original N117 that had been taken from him and thrown there by the local   
   and higher up law enforcement folks!  With a note.  I HAD to take over the   
   whole N117 boss and stay on to stop nasty bad things from then happening. That   
   was decades ago!  I've kept my promise and have as far as I know NEVER done   
   anything wrong nor hurt anyone that honestly keeps trying to carry us all up   
   even here,  But that doesn't mean that I too have been caught to do things I   
   wouldn't have ever done if I knew what all was going on in the world and   
   others around us.  Sigh.
