   First of all, the USSC decision did not decide the election.   
   Gore could have ignored it, which he did. Gore was also under   
   no obligation to concede. He decided to concede, citing his   
   reason as "for the good of the country." No other reason was   
   stated.   
      
   The electoral college system is antiquated, and should have   
   been discarded long ago. It is a relic from colonial times, which   
   only a small handful of countries continue to use today.   
      
   What we need is direct democracy. One person, one vote.   
   That is how we elect everybody else. Why should the presidency   
   be any different?
