The Dean System Space Drive: *

                                  Abstract
                                  --------

This report results from an extensive survey of the literature,
both general and technical, searching for further data relating to the
controversial Dean System Space Drive. All known sources for further
Dean Drive data are listed, whether Pro or Con, and have been arranged
into chronological order - as an aid to researchers.

F.Y.I., Space Drive is the term used to denote a mechanism, or
principle by which a spaceship can be propelled - a device not a
rocket, that would not have to carry reaction mass to throw away.
The Dean System Space Drive, nicknamed the Dean Drive, was the first
of these devices to be highly publicized. Understanding it will be
aided by a thorough familiarity with the Dean Space Drive Patent
(US 2,886,976), which claims to show how to harness a mechanical
    oscillator for propulsion purposes.

This report is intended solely as a ready reference for those
researchers or would-be inventors that are interested in understanding
    the Dean System Space Drive.

that it be distributed in this original unmodified form.

    COMPILER'S NOTES:
    -----------------

This report is one in a series to be generated from our continuing
research into the Space Drive concept (i.e. non-rocket space propulsion
systems). Revised versions of this report will be issued as necessary.

Anyone who can contribute other sources of Dean System Space Drive
information, is asked to communicate with the compiler of this report.
Especially anyone who knows the date of the Dean Drive Demonstration on
the TODAY show. Check any correspondence with John W. Campbell (Editor
of Analog) or Norman L. Dean ... you may have this info!

Printed copies of this report are available from the address on
the front cover. Revised editions of this, and various other Space Drive
reports will be available for downloading on the Anomalous BBS.
