           OS/2 Driver for the Sound Blaster Pro Panasonic CD Drive

			       Beta Version 1.0

Notes on IBM OS/2 CD-ROM Device Driver

Summary

This note describes how to use the device driver. Feedback on any problems
encountered are welcome. Please read the section titled: PROBLEM REPORTS
later in this document.

What you get and how to install it:

First, remove the following line from the CONFIG.SYS file.

	DEVICE=C:\OS2\CDROM.SYS

You are given a copy of the device driver file, SBPCD2.SYS. This is a beta
release version 1.0. Users should include the following line into the
CONFIG.SYS file:

        DEVICE=C:\DRV\SBPCD2.SYS /P:220

This is assuming the driver is located in the directory C:\DRV and the I/O
address of the SoundBlaster Pro is set to the factory default of 220.
Valid options for the /P parameter are 220, 240, 260 and 280.

IMPORTANT: The CD-ROM device driver that comes with OS/2 will not work
in conjunction with SBPCD2.SYS.

               What is needed with the device driver?

You need a Sound Blaster Pro card and a Matsushita CD-ROM drive, model
CR-521-CAC. Both the internal and the external drives work with this device
driver. If you have the earlier model of CD-ROM drive, the audio channel
control function may not work very well. This problem will be fixed in
a later version of device driver.

You will also need two drivers, VCDROM.SYS and CDFS.IFS. They are included
with OS/2, and the following two lines should be included in the
CONFIG.SYS file:

IFS=C:\OS2\CDFS.IFS /Q
DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VCDROM.SYS

This is assuming the CDFS.IFS is located in the directory C:\OS2 and the
VCDROM.SYS is located in the directory C:\OS2\MDOS. For more information
about these two drivers, please refer to your OS/2 manual.

IMPORTANT:

This driver is provided "AS IS". Your only avenue to get bugs fixed is to
complete the following form and either MAIL or FAX it to us. There are no
other methods of sending in bug reports at this time. PLEASE do not call
voice (To ANY department of Creative Labs) with bug reports. We appreciate
your input and assistance, but we do not have the resources to deal with
these issues in realtime. Also, if you FAX reports to us, make sure you
send them to the Engineering Department FAX, and not the Technical Support
FAX. This will ensure that no reports are lost before they get into the
proper hands and will speed their processing.

MOST IMPORTANT:

Again, Please do NOT contact the Creative Labs Technical Support (or anyone
else at Creative Labs) regarding this driver, unless it is a bug report using
the above form via FAX or Mail. Technical Support is not equipped to handle
questions about beta drivers and can NOT provide support for them.
Please direct ALL problems and questions to the OS/2 Development Group,
using the above form. We do not have the manpower to answer every fax or
letter, but we will attempt to verify and correct any bugs discovered by
end-users.

Thank you for your cooperation.
