               BETH ROOT
Another name for this strange root is
Low or Lo John the Conqueror. It is
also called Chewing John, as some
People chew on small pieces. It seems
they spit out the root but swallow the
juice. It is said to be an excellent remedy
for coughs and when boiled and made into
a strong solution and strained, can be used
    as a douche.
Occultists believe that if one chews the
root and spits out the juice, it will
remove a cursed or jinxed condition by
sending the curse or jinx back to the
    sender.
It is also said that if a tiny piece cooked
and added to food by a woman, the man who
eats this food will be amorously inclined
    toward the woman.

             BETHEL NUT
In the Orient this nut is chewed to
increase Psychic Powers but we do
not think too much of this idea as we
understand the result is, black, ugly
    teeth!
It is highly prized in Occult Circles.
One spell calls for the following:
Hold two Bethel Nuts in the
    left hand, make a wish.
place the Bethel Nuts some where on your person, (pocket
or Pouch will do) and carry
    them on yourself for seven
    days, then throw them into
    moving water. ( A river,
    brook, ocean, etc. ) Shortly
thereafter, it i s believed your
    wish will be granted.

            BISTORT
There is a legend that states when a
strong solution of this herb is made
(one teaspoon to a pint of boiling water,
    steeped & strained) and added
to Your regular floor wash, it will
    drive away Poltergeists.
It is also Purported that a little Bistort
added to Frankincense powder and burned will
    help stimulate the psychic centers.

              BLACK COHOSH
In certain Occult Circles a solution
of one teaspoonful of Black Cohosh
steeped in one pint of boiling water,
strained and sprinkled in a circle
    around the room where ritualistic
work is about to be done, insures
that no alien or unwanted spirit will
    get through.
It is also believed that this solution
    sprinkled around the bed before
    retiring will encourage angry couples
    to kiss and make up.

          BLACK HAWK BARK
A legendary formula to rid one of an
    enemy or rival is given here;
    3 oz, patchouly Leaves
    12 oz, Lavender
    8 oz. Frankincense
    12 oz. sandalewood
    4 oz, Myrrh
    8 oz. Orris Powder
    2 oz. Black Hawk Bark
    2 oz. Winters Bark
    1 oz. saltpeter
      (mix thoroughly)
For seven consecutive nights at midnight,
burn a little of the incense mix.
While it burns, write the name of the
enemy in Dove's Blood Ink on a small
Piece of parchment paper, (the smaller
the better.) Lay it on the burning
    incense and say:
"(Name of enemy)" three times aloud.
Now, make a circle of Dragon Blood
    powder around the incense burner.
Place a lodestone in front of the burner.
Leave it and go to bed.
In the morning upon rising, clear everything
away. Repeat this ritual for seven
consecutive nights and it is said your
    enemy will be defeated.

            BLADDERWRACK
There are those who swear that an
    offering of Bladderwrack thrown into
the ocean will win You the favor of the
sea spirits. Many Occultists use this
herb in ritualistic work, especially when
planning to travel by water or when seeking
    treasures of the sea.

             BLOOD ROOT
In powder form this unusual herb is
    mixed with Uncrossing Incense and
    burned for seven consecutive nights
to remove a curse or hex from a
dwelling Place. In Pieces, it is
thrown on the doorstep of a witch or
wizard and also on the Path where he
or she may walk, so that the curse or
spell they sent out may return to them
to do the evil they wished on another
    to themselves.
A little of this powder sprinkled around
the outside of the home will keep all
evil out and some of the Powder
carried on one"s self will keep that
    one from harm.

              BLUEBERRY
It is said a little Blueberry Herb strewn
in the dark of night before the door of
an enemy will cause that enemy much
    trouble and confusion.
Sprinkle a little Blueberry Herb under
your front door-mat and those who wish
you ill, will not stay long, or will
not enter Your home at all.
