The January 2-8 TV Guide just hit the stands and it ha a feature on Deep Space Nine, plus an article describing the other new sf shows, including Babylon 5. It's easy to spot: it's the one with Patrick Stewart and Avery Brooks on the cover.

Well.. I want to wish each of you a Happy New year... and want to remind
everybody that February is coming up fast...

Um... just one note from GEnie that I noticed... somebody asked if the
composer for the movie only or for the series. Joe said he would do the
series too. Now... that looks very promising that there will be a series.
But, as Joe has pointed out, the problem is whether or not PTEN wants to
open up another night of programming. (Although if I were them Id throw
Kung Fu TLC into the "maybe" for the second night and put B5 into the
definite for the first night... but of course my opinion doesn't matter).

BTW.. for anybody who has seen the pilot all ready... is there like a
recreation deck, football field, or anything around? Just curious... I'd
be pretty bored without a place to shoot baskets. Zero G basketball...
interesting concept. ;DDDD

According to reports on GEnie, the Wisconsin State Journal and Newsweek (Jan 4, 1993 edition) both falsely accuse Babylon 5 of being a Deep Space Nine clone.

JMS is, to put it mildly, upset.

Remember an OPINION is different than a CLAIM (or putting forth a fact) Please forward any other reports of claims that Babylon 5 is a copy of Deep Space Nine to the Mailing list with the following information:

Name of the publication or program (if radio, TV, or cable).

Date/time of airing

There's a rather large garden/park area, which includes a rock garden that is
apparently semi-important to the ongoing plot...other than some gambling on the
Bazaar, that was the only recreational stuff shown, to my memory.

Babylon 5 group,
Well, I have seen the Deep Space Nine premiere via satellite
downlink and it's a very nicely done show and should be very fun
to watch. However, since this is a B5 group I wont go into any
detail about it. What I would like to find out is when the
Babylon 5 downlink will be (as well as satellite and transponder
obviously).
If anyone knows the downlink information for Babylon 5 I would
be very interested in getting this.

Thanks much
Doug

I don't have the downlink info yet, but the TV air date is Feb 22nd in most cities. (Some are slightly later.) I'd guess downlink to be Feb 14th-20th.

Those few people that have seen both movies now were more impressed my Babylon5, for those interested in such comparisons. The music for both shows is said to be "similar".
Figures. :D
