Just a minor tip to all you builders:

I talked to Tim Barczy (somehow still US spokesperson for Digisound) the 
other night and he started giving me an avalanche of tips for building 
stuff.  One that I thought was interesting is when he mentioned the 
SSM2100 linear to log (and vice versa?) IC, which is basically a 
converter on a chip, temperature compensated and all.  Newark sells them 
for about $14.00 apiece.  Kinda steep, but still good to know about.
