Rise of the Dragon

Solve by Christian Death, brought to you by Solve Master

This solve is intended for those who know tha basic mechanics of how to play the game (using things, talking to people, picking up objects, whatever). It's all so very easy that I shouldn't have to tell you how to power up your fax/terminal and insert your i.d. card to get it to work...

You, William "Blade" Hunter, start out in your apartment. It's 7/31, noon. Start the day by reading all your messages. get the fax of the mayors daughter (gruesome pic). you have no need for the clip of ammo or the pistol under your pillow. you do, however, need to pick up your clothes and jacket and put them on (or else get arrested for indecent exposure). the stuff in the bathroom has no use either (the first aid box and the NaPent spray). Your kitchen cabinet is locked, but will be opened soon enough. Okay, head on over to City Hall. By flowers from the moony named Bliss. For future reference, City Hall is the EXIT to the left and the Warehouse district is the EXIT to the right. Go to city hall and see Karyn in the Bureau of Records. Give Karyn the flowers and be extremely nice to her. Set a date for the evening and she gives you the keys to your cabinet. Next, go on over to the Pleasure Dome. Make sure you aren't packing your piece or they won't let you in. Ignore everyone you see and go to the bar. DON'T go home with the hooker. Karyn will snag you and you can't solve the game without her. So instead, talk to the guy directly across from you, on the other side of the bar. He's wearing camoflauge. This guy is "The Jake". Say you're looking for the Jake and he's got a friend who's in trouble (Chandra Vincenzi). He freaks and tells you to get lost. Show him the fax of her face. Now he starts talking to you. The key here is to be cool and not a dick. Ask for information but don't delve into his private life. Ask about Chen until he gives you his address. Leave and go to Chen's. Hurry into his apartment (you can watch Chen die a horrible death if you want) but hurry up and go to his Vidphone. Get his i.d. from it and go to the bathroom. Pick up the white patch (the drug) and haul ass outta there before they catch you. Quickly back to City Hall before they close and let Karyn to a scan on the patch and Chen's i.d. Get the address of his "known accomplisses. She says the info on the drug won't be ready til tomorrow. You've had a busy day, so go to Karyn's apartment (before 7:30!, that's 19:30 in the upper right hand corner). After the date with Karyn, you go back over to your apartment. It's now 8/1. Open your kitchen cabinet with the keys and get the bombs and phone monitor. Head on over to Chen Lu's again. Use his i.d. to open the door. Inside, go down the hall (next to the bathroom). There's a tacky sculpture of a chinese dragon. Touch it's eye and it will reveal a safe. Zoom in on the safe and set a bomb on the keypad. Get the scripture out of there. Head over to city hall and go to the Warehouse district. You'll see a couple corridors, a steel door and a fence. Go down one of the corridors. This leads to a room with a "keep out" sign. Of course, go in there and talk to the old man. Ask him to look at the calligraphy and show him the scripture. He gives you a bunch of useless shit. Take the bullet proof vest, I guess. I don't think any of the stuff does anything. Anyway, leave and go see Karyn at City Hall. Get the video tape from her and go talk to the receptionist, Jenni. Bitch at her until she lets you see the mayor. Be smug and let him know you have something that'll cost him the next election. Tell him what you know and show him the tape. When he asks for your help, tell him you're tired of this job and you're quitting. He'll give you a pass to the Police Station. Get it and go there. Show the guard the pass and get the rifle. Next, go to Johnny Qwong's. Open the manhole cover and go down. Don't take too long cuz rats will eat you. Okay, check out the phone box. Blow up the lock with a bomb and open the door. Now, this is kind of tricky. Save the game here in case you screw up. Take out your phone tapping device and put it down. Notice how the volt meter goes back and forth. Attach a clip to a wire ONLY when the volts read low (like zero or one). Pick up the red alligator clip and attach it to the top of the red line. Attach the blue clip to the top of the black line (watch that volt meter!). Lastly, pick up the yellow clip and attack it to the grey lines that are running vertically. Attach it to the terminal that is second from the bottom. The green light on the box should light up and you'll think "hey, i should go check out my vidphone for Qwong's messages." If this doesn't happen, you've hooked up a clip to the wrong terminal or wire (or gotten your ass shocked). Keep trying, but make it fast or the rats will get you.
Now that that's done, go back to Blade's and check the messages. Leave the rifle there! Go visit the Jake at the Dome and be cool. Give him your phone number. Next, go to the Warehouse district. I'm not exactly sure what time you're supposed to do this at, but try between 16:00 and 19:00 on 8/1. It may correspond to the "movie" scene of Qwong yelling at the lab tech about being on schedule. Anyway, the gate next to the steel door should be open. Go through the gate and look at those meters just waiting to be sabotaged by one of your bombs. So blow 'em up and watch the fun. Go home and read about all the chaos you've wreaked. This will cause the death of Johnny Qwong and will have Deng Hwang make threats to you. Fun. Get some sleep. It's now 8/2. Since I've had you streamlining along with this solve, just hang out in your apartment, passing time. You'll see Karyn get kidnapped by Hwang's goons. There's nothing you can do about it so keep waiting. Sleep and it'll be 8/3. There is absolutely nothing to do, so wait until the next day. It's 8/4 and you awaken to a message from the Jake. He's panicking and says to meet him at the Warehouse District at 8:30. GET YOUR RIFLE and head on over. Wait and wait by the warehouses. Eventually, you'll have to save the Jake from that patch-eyed Euro-fag, the Snake. This is an arcade sequence. Might as well save the game and give it a try. The keypad moves you around. "5" lets you fire and "enter" lets you jump. Hold down a direction and hit enter for those longggg jumps. If you die enough times, the game will ask you if you want to keep trying or get on with the game. It's up to you. So get on with the game and the Jake will give you a pass for Deng Hwang's. Get it and go to Hwang's. SHow the pass to the guard. You'll see a sequence of them doing all kinds of mean shit to Karyn. Talk to the receptionist and act like you've seen her before. Be nice and while you're trying to con your way into security, throw in a movie and dinner. That'll get you in. Go to the security room and check out the console. First, unlock all the rooms that are locked, and lock the sercutiy door (hee hee). Next, hit the Security Sys lever. It'll ask for i.d. so insert the one that the Jake gave you. Now you have to play an annoying game of "SIMON" with the console. Just write down the color codes and do it. Once done, make sure you hit the button in the middle of the console to "off". This controls that laser gate by the receptionist. Get out cuz the girl is thinking about narking on you. Well, she does anyway, but HA! You've disabled the alarm. Go through the doorway that HAD the laser gate going and you'll be in a hallway. Go to the first door on your right. This is the janitors. Open both doors of the fuse box in front of you. Use the screwdriver to open the bottom panel. Hit the throw switch on the top. This will keep the guards off your ass for a while longer. Leave and go to the second door. Karyn's in there hooked to some machine. Zoom in on the collar around her neck. No matter what you do, she dies. Dies, dies, dies. There's nothing you can do. Well, now you're all pissed off so you go after Hwang, who you discover to be Bahumat. You're in arcade mode again, like before. Again, if you die enough times, the computer offers to let you go on like you've completed this section. This is the end of the game. Now you see a typical Hollywood ending and it's over. Over all, though, I think this is one of the best adventure games I've ever played. Not only for the cyberpunk element, but damn! This thing had great graphics and sound. And the intro is fantastic.

Now do yourself a favor and get a copy of "Very, very powerful motor," by the Fastbacks...probably the best band you'll hear this decade.
