Suppose you are calling a BBS to download or upload
files. Once you are connected and make the decision to
download a file, you need to tell the host computer that
you want to download a file. Often, it is as simple as
pressing D (for download) from a menu. Then you will be
prompted for the complete file name you want to download.
Next, the host computer may prompt you for a download
          protocol.

If ZMODEM is given as a choice, select it if your
communications software is set for ZMODEM. For
a successful download, both your computer and the host
computer MUST use the same download protocol. When you
are finished, you may need to press <PG DN> to start
the download process. Those using a Windows
telecommunications program may need to click the mouse
on the proper icon to start the download.

After the download is finished, the file will then be
transferred to your computer in the user specified
download directory. When you are off-line, change to
your download directory to see the downloaded file.

If you wanted to upload a file (send a file to the host
computer), first you would select UPLOAD on the host
computer's menu. Then, with most DOS-based communications
software, you would press <PG UP> to start the process.
Before you called the host computer, you would have
copied the file that you wanted to send to your specified
UPLOAD DIRECTORY on your computer. Then, your
communications software can find the file to send to the
host computer when you give the commands. A Windows-based
communications program may require that you click (the
mouse) on an upload icon to start the upload process.
