Enclosed is an M3MMON PROM Rev. 00D to be installed on the MCPU20
board in the Series/1 system. The PROM contains the diagnostics
program and the monitor of the MCPU20 board.

.h1;Installation

Electro-static discharge (ESD) can damage PROMs and other circuit
board components. Do not remove a circuit board or PROM from its
static protective package prior to installation. When handling
any circuit board or PROM, avoid touching pins, leads, solder
connections, or gold-plated edges. Failures resulting from ESD
may void your warranty.

Follow these steps to replace the M3MMON PROM Rev. 00B with the
M3MMON PROM Rev. 00D on the MCPU20 board:

1. Locate component position U27 on the MCPU20 board. Use a
PROM-pulling tool to remove the M3MMON PROM Rev. 00B from
the socket at this location.

2. If the rows of pins of the M3MMON PROM Rev. 00D are too far
apart to fit into the socket, press them closer together by
pushing one row of pins against a flat surface.

3. The socket at this location is larger than the PROM, and
the four leftmost holes of this socket are not used.
Gently push the PROM into the socket as shown in Figure 1.
Be sure that the notch in the PROM is oriented in the same
direction as the corresponding notch marked on the MCPU20
board. To avoid being invoiced for the new PROM, return
the old PROM to Bridge within 30 days.

.h1;Compatibility

All software programs that operate with the MCPU20 board in the
Series/1 system are compatible with M3MMON PROM Rev. 00D.

The PROM is not compatible with the earlier MCPU board.

.h1;New Features

The following features, which were not present in M3MMON PROM
Rev. 00B, have been implemented in M3MMON PROM Rev. 00D:

1. It supports upload from multiple memory ranges of the
Series/1 product to a Network Control Server.

2. A new monitor command, ReSet, resets the entire Series/1
unit. It generates the same results as pressing the reset
switch.

.h1;Bugs Fixed

The following problems, which were present in M3MMON PROM Rev.
00B, have been fixed in M3MMON PROM Rev. 00D:

1. The disassembler instruction ORI.W (OR Immediate Word) to
status register now works properly.

2. The term "auxiliary port" has replaced the term "download
port" in the screen displays to match the label on the
backpanel of the Series/1 product.

3. After a fatal error, the system either reboots or boots to
monitor depending on the value of the Auto reboot
parameter. Previously, the system only rebooted after a
fatal error occurred.

4. A Network Control Server can boot a Series/1 broadband
system.
