.h1;Firmware Configuration

Although there is no console connector on the back panel of the
CS/200, you can configure the firmware to designate any port as a
console port. For the standard shipping configuration, there is
no designated console port. The default value of the Initial
Boot Source parameter is Network, and the default value of Auto-
reboot is Reboot only.

After you power on or reset the CS/200, the Self Test LED lights
for approximately 20 seconds. It turns off when the CS/200
completes the self-test diagnostics. Then the Boot State LED
lights, indicating that the CS/200 is entering the boot phase.
If the Boot State LED is off, check whether a console port has
been enabled, because an enabled console port causes the CS/200
to enter Monitor mode instead of the boot phase. Follow these
steps to reboot the CS/200:

1. Attach a terminal to the console port of the CS/200.

2. Type "fc" to enter the Firmware Configuration menu.

3. After the firmware configuration utility commands appear on
the screen, type "c" to change the parameters.

4. A menu showing the current parameters and their settings is
displayed. Select "6" to change the Auto-reboot parameter.

5. Change the Auto-reboot parameter from "m" to "r".

6. After the list of parameters is redisplayed, change the
Initial Boot Source parameter from "m" to "n".

7. After the list of parameters is redisplayed, change the
Monitor parameter from "e" to "d".

8. Select Q to return to the previous menu.

9. Select E to exit to the monitor.

10. After you return to the monitor prompt, press the Reset
switch to exit Monitor mode.

For further information on firmware configuration parameters and
screen displays, refer to the Series/200 Installation Guide.

.h1;Installing Software on the NCS/150

Because the CS/200 is a diskless unit, it must be supported by a
Network Control Server. You must copy SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC-NCS/150
Version 20080 from the distribution diskette to the SW/150-NCS
diskette using the following steps:

1. Connect a terminal to port 0 of the NCS/150.

2. Insert the SW/150-NCS-UTIL diskette in the NCS/150 disk
drive, then press the Reset switch.

3. After the NCS/150 is finished booting, press the following
sequence on the keyboard: <RETURN>.<RETURN>

4. Remove the SW/150-NCS-UTIL diskette, then insert the
SW/150-NCS diskette in the disk drive. Enter the following
command: ls -lx /BIN This command displays the contents of
the software image currently available on the SW/150-NCS
diskette.

5. Because the NCS/150 working diskette can contain the
software for two product types only, it may be necessary to
remove software from the diskette to make room for the
CS/200 file. Type "rm <filename>" if you need to remove a
file.

6. If a cs200x file already exists, remove it by typing: rm
/BIN/cs200x

7. Perform a file system check with the compact option by
entering the following command: fsck -c

8. Create a CS/200 file on the SW/150-NCS diskette using the
following command: cr /BIN/cs200x 198 rwx 101000

9. To copy the file, enter the following command: cf #0
/BIN/cs200x

10. When the system prompts for the source diskette, remove the
NCS/150 working diskette. Insert the SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC-
NCS/150 Version 20080 diskette. Then press the Return key.

11. When the system prompts for the destination diskette,
replace the SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC-NCS/150 Version 20080
diskette with the SW/150-NCS diskette. Then press the
Return key. The copying process is finished when this
message is displayed: Copy completed

.h1;New Features

The following is a list of the features of SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC
Version 20080 that were not present in SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC Version
20070 or earlier:

1. The time between the disconnection of a current session and
the connection of a call queued to a CS/200 port has been
increased to at least 30 seconds in SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC
Version 20080. This feature ensures that slow DTR toggling
by the host does not affect the queued calls.

2. A host can initiate the flushing of a virtual circuit
between a CS/200 and itself.

.h1;Bugs Fixed

The following problems, which existed in SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC
Version 20070, have been fixed in SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC Version
20080:

1. Previously, when the InterAction parameter was set to
NoMacroBreak, pressing the Break key during the execution
of a macro would cause unpredictable results. In SW/200-
A/BSC/SDLC Version 20080, pressing the break key terminates
the current command within the macro. Execution will
continue at the next line in the macro.

2. When the terminal is in Data Transfer mode, pressing the
Break key and immediately typing characters no longer
causes the port to lock up.

3. All clearinghouse requests are transmitted as BTP (Bridge
Transaction Protocol) packets. Previously, when a
clearinghouse request was retried, the request was
transmitted as a PEP (Packet Exchange Protocol) packet,
which is not understandable to all clearinghouse servers.

4. The SHow STAT <Hour> command displays statistics for the
time specified. Previously, the displayed statistics were
for one hour earlier than the time requested.

5. When set to CTSRTS, the FlowControl parameters now cause
the transmit data stream to stop within three byte times
instead of one packet time.

6. When the CS/200 receives a netmap packet, its clock is set
to the time on the netmap packet. Previously, this
happened only when the time received from the netmap packet
was ahead of the time on the CS/200.

7. The CharacterCOde parameter can be changed from EBCDIC to
ASCII after the LinePRotocol parameter has been set to
BYTEsynchronous. Previously, the CharacterCOde parameter
could not be changed.

8. The CS/200 no longer locks up when the datalink layer runs
out of buffers due to extremely bursty traffic on the
Ethernet network.
