The patch diskette contains three files: xenix, iepc and
sysconf.ncs. The file xenix has the patch for the Xenix device
driver. The file iepc has the patch for disabling logging of IR
and IX audit trail messages on the NCS disk. The sysconf.ncs
file has the new version number for this patch which is SW/AT-NCS-
11011.

To install this patch on the NCS/AT, follow these steps:

1. Use NCS login procedure to log into the NCS/AT as root (see
NCS manual). Insert the distribution diskette into the
floppy drive.

*** Make sure you logged in as root***

2. cd/(change directory to root). Move the existing file xenix
to xenix.old by typing the command:

    mv xenix xenix.old

3. cd/usr/NCS/BIN (change directory to /usr/NCS/BIN). Move the
existing file iepc to iepc.old by typing the command:

    mv iepc iepc.old

4. Move the existing file sysconf.ncs to sysconf.old by typing
the following command:

    mv sysconf.ncs sysconf.old

5. Type floppyread <RETURN>. This command will copy the patch
files, xenix, iepc and sysconf.ncs, from the floppy diskette
onto the NCS disk. Remove the diskette from the floppy
drive.

6. Reboot the NCS/AT by typing /etc/reboot <RETURN>.

7. After the NCS/AT is rebooted, check the version number of
this NCS/AT release by typing Show Version <RETURN> in the
Command/Utility screen. The version number should be SW/AT-
NCS-11011.
