               Record Type Codes

Code     Meaning                      Description
------------------------------------------------------------------
BC Boot completed Bootstrap of the specified device
                            completed.  This record type may
                            include explanatory codes AB, FS, OK,
                            or SE.

BR Boot requested Bootstrap was requested by the
                            specified device and initiated by the
                            boot server. The data area of this
                            record type contains the name of the
                            bootfile used.

CD Connected A connection was established between
                            the specified devices.

CF Connection failed An attempt to establish a connection
                            between the specified devices failed.
                            This record type may include
                            explanatory codes BA, BU, DA, IC, NR
                            or UE.

DC Disconnected The initiating device disconnected
                            from the destination device.  This
                            record type is followed by one of the
                            explanatory codes AD, NR, OK, and UE,
                            and the fields shown below, separated
                            by spaces:

                            * Duration of connection (secs)
                            * Number of bytes received
                            * Number of packets received
                            * Number of bytes transmitted
                            * Number of packets transmitted

EE Ethernet errors The specified server reported 100 or
                            more network errors within the hour.
                            Network errors include Cyclic
                            Redundancy Check (CRC), alignment,
                            packet-too-short, and packet
                            collision errors.  The record is
                            followed by the number of network
                            errors. This record is the same as
                            NE, Network errors.

EO Error overflow The error log on a Communications
                            Server overflowed.  The record is
                            followed by the number of discarded
                            records.

FE Fatal error The specified server (which is either
                            a CS/200 or IVECS) has crashed and
                            requested reboot. A memory dump will
                            be sent automatically to the server's
                            primary NCS/AT. This record type may
                            include an explanatory code.

                                retries.  Check for nonterminated
                                cable.

                            1   Delayed collision.  Another
                                server is not performing
                                collision detection.

                            2 Loss of carrier. Check for
                                shorted cable.

                            3   Network jammed, cannot transmit.
                                Check for nontermination.

                            Make sure the transceiver or RFM/5 is
                            properly attached.

                            The record includes a count of the
                            number of occurrences of the error
                            since it was last reported.

NE Network errors The specified server reported 100 or
                            more network errors within the hour.
                            Network errors include Cyclic
                            Redundancy Check (CRC), alignment,
                            packet-too-short, and packet
                            collision errors.  The record is
                            followed by the number of network
                            errors. This record is the same as
                            EE, Ethernet errors.

NU Network This record is generated once every
        utilization 10 minutes by the NCS/AT to indicate
                            the network utilization for each of
                            the last 10 minutes as a percentage
                            of the network capacity. To obtain
                            the capacity, multiply the reported
                            value by .1 (e.g., 30 X .1 = 3%).

PE Password errors When attempting a SET PRIVilege
                            command, a user entered the local or
                            global network manager password
                            incorrectly 30 or more times on a
                            single server within the hour;
                            followed by the number of incorrect
                            entries.

RO Rotary used The initiating device established a
                            connection with a rotary on the
                            destination device; followed by the
                            number of ports available on the
                            rotary and the number of ports in use
                            before the reported connection was
                            established.

SD Server dropped The server with the specified network
                            address has been dropped from the
                            netmap, indicating that the NCS/AT
                            has received no packets from that
                            server for at least 72 hours.

SE Escessive The specified server reported 100 or
        SIO errors more SIO errors within the hour. SIO
                            errors depend on the type of servers
                            on the network, and may include
                            asynchronous line parity errors; HDLC
                            or SDLC line CRC, transmit, receive,
                            and DCD errors; and SIO interrupt
                            errors. The record is followed by
                            the number of SIO errors.

SI Server inactive Server with the specified network
                            address is listed as inactive in the
                            NCS/AT netmap, indicating that the
                            NCS/AT has received no packets from
                            that server for five or more minutes.

UC Upload complete Upload of the specified device has
                            been completed.  This record may
                            include explanatory codes AB, FS, ND,
                            OK, RF, or SE.

UR Upload request Upload was requested by the specified
                            device and initiated by its primary
                            NCS/AT. This record type may include
                            an explanatory code.
