3+Open TCP with DPA Version 1.1
Release Notes

The information in these release notes updates information and procedures
in the 3+Open TCP with Demand Protocol Architecture User Guide and 3+Open
TCP with Demand Protocol Architecture Administrator Guide. Please read
these release notes in addition to the User Guide and Administrator Guide
before installing 3+Open TCP with DPA, version 1.1.

.br;Using Microsoft Windows/286
.br;===========================
.br;To use Microsoft Windows/286 with 3+Open TCP with DPA, you must be sure to
load the appropriate 3+Open TCP terminate-and-stay-resident programs (TSRs)
before loading Windows/286. for information on loading 3+Open TSRs, refer
to Chapter 1 of the 3+Open TCP with Demand Protocol Architecture User
Guide.

   NOTE: 3+Open with DPA does not support Microsoft Windows/386 at this
time.

.br;Using FTP
;br;3+Open TCP with DPA User Guide, p. 3-20, 3-24
;br;=============================================
;br;The following notes apply to the File Transfer Program (FTP) application:

 If you are using UNIX 4.2 BSD, be aware that using the FTP RENAME command
to rename a nonexistent file causes the next FTP command issued to funtion
improperly. Subsequent commands will function properly.

 Issuing an MGET * command on a directory containing more than 300 files
results in an FTP5000 error. Issuing another MGET * command following the
error message results in a directory listing with no data transferred. To
avoid this, be more specific about the files you wish to transfer (for
example, MGET*.C) or break the files into smaller groups.

Loading TCP TSR modules on DOS Netstations
==========================================
To run FTP, the Network Maintenance Facilities, terminal emulators, or
socket-based applications from a DOS netstation, you must load the
supporting TSR modules in a specific order.

The TSRs required to support these functions are listed in tables on pages
1-3 through 1-6 of the 3+Open TCP with Demand Protocol Architecture User
Guide.

Load the required TSRs through a batch file or individually from the DOS
command line. Load them in the order that they are listed in the tables.

Known Problems
==============
As a matter of policy 3Com lists all known problems considered serious
enough to affect the operation of its products. This section lists known
problems to be aware of in the operation of 3+Open TCP with DPA. 3Com
intends eliminate these problems from future releases of this product.

1. Multiple FTP Sessions in Multiple Windows

Running multiple sessions of FTP in multiple Presentation Manager windows
on a single OS/2 netstation to a single server may cause one of the FTP
sessions to abort.

2. Printing During a VT Session

If you start a print operation in a VT session and the printer runs out of
paper during that print operation, you will receive a message stating that
the printer requires more paper. All further inputs to the VT session will
be blocked until you load more paper. After the paper is loaded and the
print operation resumes, a single key stroke from the netstation will halt
that print job.
